My wife and I rescued a stray female cat on Friday but cannot keep her. She is a young, petite, short-hair tortie-tabby mix and very playful.

what a sweetie! but we just took in a senior cat and now we have 4. That's enough feline social dynamics for our 3rd floor apartment...

She is such a sweetie pie! But we have 3 right now...not adding anymore to the mix right now...

Y'know, just once, just for something completely different, I'd like to hear someone say, "I want to adopt a cat. Do you know of any cats that need a home?" Instead it's nothing but cats who need homes, and it depresses the hell out of me. Not yelling at you, babe - just venting.

She's absolutely adorable - and I already have the two cats my landlord will allow. Dammit. I hope she finds a loving home. Good on you guys for rescuing her!

When I bought a house and thus knew I was free of landlord restrictions, I did say "I want a cat" -- soon modified to "I want a pair of cats 'cause I'm single and at work all day". I knew someone in the SCA who tended to take in strays, so I asked her if she had any in need of homes before going to a shelter. (She had just taken in a pregnant cat, so I ended up with two of the kittens.)

Of course, this is but one drop of water in the vast sea of homeless cats. But you asked.

It may be one drop of water, but it does cheer me up. Thank you!

I'm sorry to be yet another person with an excuse, but I feel I should at least acknowledge.

I raised my cat from a tiny kitten, and she's extremely jealous. Experience shows that she simply can't live with other cats, at least not if I'm around at all. It disappoints me, because were it not for that, I probably could have another cat or two.

It's funny - Mina's been sulking, kinda like Eliot Spitzer's wife while she stood next to him during his resignation speech. If she could talk, I'm sure she would say, "How could you!"
