Summer of SciFi

Inspired partly by an awesome conversation with a customer at work, and partly by the several entertaining Farscape rewatches happening around LJ, and also by this awesome vid -- I have declared to the world at large (or the small portion of the world at large that might hear me) that this will be the Summer of SciFi -- by which I mean that I will ( Read more... )

*admires your determination* :D We watch TV so slowly and infrequently that this represents about 5 years of TV watching for us. *g* I've had the first two seasons of B5 sitting on a shelf for, uh, I think 4 years now, and still haven't gotten to it yet! I need to watch it before I manage to get completely spoiled for it; I REALLY REALLY want to watch it spoiler-free, but my luck can only hold out so long ...

You don't list Next Generation with the other 'treks; is that an intentional omission?

You might also like Earth2; my sister and I really loved that show when it was originally on TV. There's only one season and it's on DVD! Another one-season wonder that I remember really liking (and wishing it'd been given more of a chance) is Alien Nation.

I can rip through a TV show pretty fast. Although, looking at this list . . . If nothing else, waiting for Netflix will slow me down. I could probably download a bunch of these, but I don't want to clog up my hard drive. And I do need to devote most of this month to fic! So I'll need to exercise some self control. :P

B5 will DEFINITELY be better without too many spoilers! It'll be good regardless, actually, but it's tightly plotted enough that I can see spoilers being annoying.

I've seen most of Next Generation, and I remember it as . . . sorta boring. Lots of long corridor walks and smug-ish Federation politics, and godawful uniforms (Poor Deanna Troi . . .) But then again, it had Captain Picard, and poker games, and Geordi LaForge, and the borg. . . I might give it another chance.

Earth 2 was recommended by a RL friend of mine as well -- I think I vaguely remember it being on TV? But not so much that it'd be hard to watch again!

I own the entire series of Red Dwarf. Just putting that out there. My Farscape ownership is a bit sketchier (and includes videotapes.) I also have Firefly, but honestly, who doesn't? *g*

Let me know if you want to borrow anything.

Oooh, I might take you up on Red Dwarf! I can get it one Netflix, but that's so SLOOW (when you're trying to watch ALL THE SCIFI anyway.)

But hey, I own Farscape! So if you want to borrow something . . . :D
