Yay for geekiness. I dated a guy like John once. He was and remains a whiz beyond reckoning. But I still ended up in a PhD program before he did, in an area he'd never dare tackle. I'm pretty proud of that. ;)

Oh god! Knowledge Bowl! We had the same speaker every time, and I remember a lot of stupid things I made him say, or sometimes he'd get all "alternate speaker" on me just so he wouldn't have to say something like "bug-eyed monster" (it was the right answer!).
