Brilliant post, E. Spotlight SW (BBC) has been featuring some of the injured all week and some of the projects that've been set up to help them. One chap is teaching some injured soldiers to surf and a group today were going to climb Mt. Everest. Amazing stuff. Felt awful for the boy you mentioned who died without his mum though. Very sad.
