This was originally intended for the November challenge, but I realized while looking at some of the other entries and comments that it's far too long. No, I'd really rather the story stood alone, as a whole, so I'd prefer not to post an excerpt and link. I'm still not clear whether I can actually enter it for the November challenge, though?

I will add the tag for the Friday recs, though. I'm bad at tagging things - just not a natural filer.
