And finally, how do you think his 35th year would compare to Harry's?

No comparison really, with the exception that they were both surrounded by kids at that time. Although in the epilogue Harry seems to like his, while I'm pretty certain Snape wanted to drop kick 99.9% of the kids that surrounded him.

I imagine he spent his free time reading and doing research on potions. I can see him in the evenings with a scholarly potions journal, making notes in the margins, or writing up the results of his latest experiments. Or just sitting by the fire with a Muggle novel. I think he would have been a reader of Henry James, Thomas Hardy, perhaps Edith Wharton. He also went for long walks in and around the Forbidden Forest. Sometimes one is more lonely in a crowd; I imagine it would have been a relief to be alone, with no need to pretend indifference or suppress the need for companionship. But I also like to think that he and Minerva occasionally shared a wee dram :)
