The only one mentioned was a girl who had *apparently* been dead for quite awhile...
Severus, under the proper circumstances, couldn't have been dead for that long before this could have happened.
At least, i hope...

I agree. As far as I'm concerned, Snape the Ornery is still out there. Of course, I bet most would say that the reason Snape's body is never found is because a hungry animal got to it before anyone else; the reason for the portrait missing is because he was appointed by Voldemort and not someone of authority at Hogwarts (or thereabouts)--only then can you have a portrait appear. I'm sticking to the theory that Snape lives. I mean, this is SNAPE we're talking about. He can't be done in by a snake bite. That's just perposterous. I'm not in denial, either, just to make that clear. >.>

Severus' supposed death wasn't due to the venom, but having a bleedout...
it would take the resurrection stone to bring him back from that... he *did* die.

i won't say he's on a beach sippin' Pina Coladas, cos, well... i know what damage the sun does to pale skin!!!! actually, that's the way I was imagining him: sipping cocktails on a beach far far away from Hogwarts (under a sunshade of course ;) ), being amused of other people's stupidity and enjoying not having to teach annoying brats anymore *g*
