Mostly just a prep post for dumping her in the DR!
Powers
Black's being pulled from the same point as Papyrus - just before they rob Atem's father's tomb. As such, her canon powers are as follows:
-Wall shifting. And she's fast - she'll hurtle between walls like a Ping-Pong ball given the chance, in either form. She can take Papyrus along if the woman holds onto her. (Or, alternatively, items: Papyrus has passed stolen jewelry to her in the walls on several occasions.)
-Special attack "Spiral Wave", concentrated between her hands and then unleashed upon her foes.
-Dispelling of enemy magic.
-Flight (duh).
-Breaking sealing tablets - WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THIS KA, etc.
Most of these powers only apply in ka form. She can wall shift in human form, however: it's the special power Papyrus most wished for in her ka. So if a kid falls out of the ceiling onto your character, relax. It's just Black.
She has some additional powers from my AU, many dealing with the whole two-people-one-soul thing. They are:
-Sensing Papyrus. Other Thief Kings will "feel" similar, but also like something is slightly off.
-For that matter, sensing ka and ba within each person, and how corrupt their ka is (though not necessarily what their ka is. She can also sense spirits in Items/floating about, but they give her the creeps because they feel so wrong. Zorcs/YnBs feel slightly like Thief Kings, but gone horribly horribly wrong - let me know if she meets your Ring Spirit if you believe TK = YnB or not, as that'll affect how they feel to her.
-Shifting herself in whole or in part. The more upset she becomes, the scalier she's likely to get, and the glossier her eyes will grow. Usually she just keeps the bottoms of her feet scaled over, in place of wearing shoes, and will still "taste" the air with a forked tongue as a human.
-Poison fangs. These grow unconsciously in human form when she's nervous. It's a problem. (She also rarely blinks. Eyelids: how do they work?)
-Talent in combat, even in human form. She retains, if not her full strength as Diabound, far greater stamina and power behind her strikes than a girl her size should possess. Her specialty is speed: staying low to the ground and then leaping up to strike quick, decisive blows.
She retains the key weakness of ka: she draws on Papyrus's ba for strength. Take out Papyrus, and you take out Black. (But woe betide you if Papyrus still has a little ba left.)
Misc.
-Due to her early canon pull point, Black still looks like a "god" ka, pale-colored and with feathery wings. Her coloring as a she!Ryou is about the same as any other's, except her eyes are a pale grey instead of the standard bevy of potential eye colors a Ryou can have.
-She's about a head shorter than the average canon Ryou, and doesn't look in shape.
-Switching forms happens more or less instantaneously for her; her body grows and shifts quite fluidly. She has a tendency of ripping dresses this way, though if she knows in advance she has to shift she will, uh. Strip. (I'll try to keep ka nudity to a minimum, as not everyone's sensibilities are as, ah....liberated....as the Court of Thieves.)
-She will never go anywhere without her anklet: it's a golden snake wound around her left ankle, and the first present from a tomb robbing Papyrus ever gave her. It slips off when her legs retract for shifting, but if she has the chance she usually hands the anklet to Papyrus before going full ka.
-Black is warm-blooded and omnivorous! She will always lean towards meat (she doesn't consider fruit or vegetables "food", they don't make her hungry to see) but she's a she!Ryou. Hide yo cakes, hide yo pies. Favorite foods: rodents, honey, eggs, small household animals, large household animals.
-Related: she still swallows her food whole. Her jaw shifts partially to enable this.
-Black doesn't use personal pronouns. Ever. Despite her relative autonomy, she has no sense of self as an individual, only as a piece of Papyrus, and she is fine with this. This limited sense of her own emotions also means she's not so good at explaining her own feelings, but she's not interested in eloquence. She understands, and that's enough for her.
-She's voiced by Haruka Tomatsu, doing more or less her "Sakana-chan" voice from Star Driver. At any given moment, her voice will range in mood from
this to
this.
-Because she's tied to Papyrus, some "status changes" on Papyrus affect her as well. If Papyrus is ill, Black gets ill. If Papyrus gets drunk, Black gets drunk (warning: she sings, and off-key at that). Everything Papyrus refuses to let herself feel because action takes priority, or feels too deeply to know how to express, also gets shoved into Black: upon returning to Kul Elna after years away, Black started to cry, since her "person" couldn't.
-As in canon, her physical state reflects Papyrus's emotional state & purity. If Papyrus ends up with an Item, or falls deeper into villainy, Black's coloring will start to change. Being corrupted hurts: she has enough autonomy to know she's beginning to twist into something horrible.
-She can communicate with other snakes. But she doesn't like doing this, as to her they're all so slow and stupid. :<
Hopefully that's it. I'll edit the post if I think of anything else, but that's quite enough to be getting on with......
