Hey everyone!  Quick update:

All Round 5 partner assignment emails have now been sent!

Thanks for all your patience!  I tried really hard to give everyone what they wanted and hopefully no one is too disappointed.  We didn't have to resort to too many domestic pairings this time, either.  If you do have any problems, though, or if I made any mistakes ( Read more... )

Just a quick question, is this going to happen every time a swap starts? (The us people get cut off within the first 30 minutes). I am just wondering because for those of us that are at work when the post is made and dont have a way of getting to a computer to get the app in, are never going to be able to get into a swap round. I just think its alittle unfair. Its nothing against you or the other mods, because your doing the best you can (and you all are doing a fantastic job!).

The best way to get into a swap if you are at work is get into the private swaps. (cause they really do close the big swap quick to US people... :) There are generally private swaps that people give a few days for you to sign up...like the christmas one that was put otgether a few weeks ago. or maybe just get lucky and catch a foreigner who wants to do a private swap!!!

I'm really sorry that you're having trouble getting into the swap rounds. We're trying to post the sign-up posts at different times for each round so that everyone has a chance. But, yes, the US people will always be cut off sooner because there are just so many. This last time I left sign-ups open to US members for about half a day and, though that doesn't sound like a very long time, it made it very hard for me to get everyone matched up later on.
As mentioned below, private swaps and themed swaps are good options if you miss the "official" round. Also, from now on (and like with Round 4), we intend on giving everyone more of a warning before the sign-ups begin, maybe posting a notice one week ahead of time. The only reason we didn't do it this time is because we were both really busy and decided on dates at the last minute. D:
