THERE IS A NEW SNACK COMMUNITY!!!!!

Apr 18, 2008 23:52

This post has been modified like woah!

Since it appears that snacksters is dead and now give_me_cake has been deleted, I've created a new snack swap community called we_swap_snacks. Yeah, creative, huh?

Anyway, we plan to run it similarly (if not the exact same way) as snacksters. We're also going to open up separate posts for people to solicit private and "mini" swaps ( Read more... )

I bought a postal scale on eBay for about $10 a handful of years ago. It has helped immensely over the years, from shipping for eBay sales to making sure I've got enough stamps. They're well worth the investment. :)

Also, I don't know if this will apply to anyone here, but it might:
Those fantastic flat-rate all-you-can-cram-in-this-box Priority boxes? They offer a $2 discount on the large flat-rate box to APO addresses.

Just thought I'd toss that in. :D

I'm having problems mailing ANYTHING from Japan to australia. So I thought I'd mention it here. The Japanese P.O. will reject any box that says it contains food, any box that is a recycled grocery store box and any box that has any graphics of food on it.

Last week I tried to even mail a skirt in a box that featured tape of anime hamsters holding strawberry and they would not post the box until I removed the tape because of the strawberries on the tape.

Do you know if this is a recent thing? Because I've been mailing these packages since last summer with no problems, and I've been using all sorts of recycled boxes and marking the contents as food. :/

I mailed a few from this specific post office prior using the same tape and grocery store boxes with no problems. They actually referenced some email that was newly attached to the wall near the counter that talked about it. I have a feeling it's probably not a "new" policy but instead is one that most post offices aren't aware of/care about and mine just happened to have gotten an email from the main office and have actually attempted to enact it. Since I'm the only person in Tanaka that would ever mail anything to Australia then I'm sure to be the one getting the brunt of it ( ... )

Heh. I'd bet you're not gonna hear much from those of us north of the border. Canada Post generally sucks, and it's incredibly expensive to send packages, both in the country and to other countries. I don't think I'm signing up this time because it's just too pricey.

You're getting really lucky, then, if that's all you've had to pay. I've been paying more like $35-40, depending on the package and the location. And if it's further than the U.S., sometimes $50-60.

Hi there! We're not entirely sure what happened, but it seems like the community died. The mods stopped returning emails and no one really explained what happened. Pairings were never sent out for the last round and everyone was left hanging. :(

However! There is a new snack swap community out there - I just did an international and domestic swap with them. Go check out give_me_cake!
