I have been spending an inordinate amount of time at this new drawing-sharing site called sketchfu. It allows you to share drawings, see how the drawings are done, and draw on the drawings of others. I've been meaning to write about this, as several people were curious. In mid-April I got a new bicycle, the first new vehicle I ever bought. The bicycle was a Dynamic Bicycles Sprint road bike that I paid $733.95 for in total. Surely I'm not the only person to have though of this, but I find that an almond stuck into a piece of candied ginger is terribly delicious, better even than turkish delight.

The surprise party I gave for M was a big success. It was all kept a secret until the appropriate time, and much fuss was made, which she adores. I had some crucial help, too, especially from E who drove up from Portland just to attend and to bring the cake she had baked.

Long posting gap...

I have been picking berries. In the image below, from the left, there are raspberries, red huckleberries, lots of cherries, and some blueberries. In the bowl are more cherries; I think I will make some into a pie and freeze the rest. I am picking more blueberries today.

Since I've been unemployed recently (which was perhaps a bad decision on my part) I have gotten a lot of stuff done that I really needed to do:

• Put down cardboard and sawdust on the paths in the garden for weed supression
• Planted and weeded in said garden

Just discovered artist 01101001. I especially like his(?) sculptures. The iron spheres on concrete bases are especially beautiful. Sunnyvale... Hmmm... do any of you Bay Area folks know him(?)?
