I may turn into a complete computer geek at this rate.  I got help making a new computer based partly on what a friend had on hand and partly on goodies from on line computer parts stores.  The motherboard was one of the on hand bits and had a built in graphics card, which was okay, but nothing to write home about.  Since it was an otherwise good

(I like building/fixing things, period, but my family never did much of that stuff. If I'd come from a family that did, who knows what I'd get up to.)

Rawr, awesome! I still haven't dared try anything of the sort yet, all the candidate parts have managed to have various excuses why they oughtn't be cannibalised. Hope if I ever do it goes so well as your achievement did.

I'm sure it will. Computers are fairly easy to take apart and put back together these days. And there are a ton of how-tos out there, including any number of YouTube videos. Granted, that requires either watching first and then doing or having a second computer/iPhone/iPad/whatever to play the video on while you do.
