It's Junpei's birthday again! Except the number of his friends still stuck in the Mall has dwindled over the last two years, so much so he suddenly find himself with no one to invite for his birthday. His cake, served in the decorated but empty karaoke reception hall, had a distinct flavour of Forever Alone.

Chidori has... drifted, from the Mall to her own world and back again. Maybe it's easier for someone like her, who has never felt at home anywhere; whatever the reason, today the Mall feels like the place she should be.

"I didn't know it was your birthday until I got here. So I didn't bring you a present. You don't mind, do you?"

*He can't believe his eyes and almost jumps out of his chair to usher her in.*

Nevermind that, you're the best gift I could hope for! Come on in, come on in!!!

"It's nice to see you too, Junpei." She can't keep a smile off her face, and she catches his hand in both of hers and gives it a squeeze.

"I've missed you. I don't really understand why, when I've been with my Junpei, but..."

*Junpei nearly melts just at having his hands squeezed by her, and then she says that.* Clearly then I'm the best Junpei! *He chuckles goofily.*

*A black dog approaches Junpei, sniffing curiously. A Virtue follows behind it.*

Are you all right?

*This seems like a very sad birthday...*

*Junpei sighs.* Nothing I won't get over eventually... *He reaches out to pet the dog.*

*The dog likes the pettings! It rests its head on Junpei's lap, begging for more.*

I take it nobody you invited turned up?

*Junpei shakes his head, still petting the dog.* They're all gone...
