Dungeon: Midnight Television #10 000

Feb 10, 2011 14:37

Every television in the Velvet Mall nexus switches on at precisely midnight, regardless of whether they're plugged in or not.

The unusually strong signal reveals Akihiko, standing in a dark, spacious room. It's hard to see, but in the flashes of lightning reveal an unsettling image every few seconds. His hands are definitely slick with dark red ( Read more... )

[...The boy blankly stares at what he saw on the screen.

That was his senpai, alright...but...what's become of him? What drove him into such a state, and why has he gone so far?]

[Is that Akihiko-senpai?

What happened? And why is he on the TV?]

*Mastema is in the laundromat when the little TV in the corner suddenly changes. Well, it's an odd place to be at midnight, to be sure, but...at least he could see it.

He recognizes the boy's voice and face easily enough. He was one of the people who helped him free Zelenin from her own dungeon, wasn't he? Mastema leaves his laundry in the dryer (who else would need it?) and starts heading off in search of a TV large enough to admit him, or at least the nearest person who seems to know what they're looking at.*

*Serph was on his way back to his base shop Mall!base after grinding hunting for dinner for himself and his comrades through a Door, when he passed by an electronics store with a huge window display of TVs. He paused to look at the odd spectacle the other teenager was making of himself on it, wondering what was going on. Blood... so much blood. But he didn't look to be so obviously injured himself, to account for it all -- it didn't seem to be his own. Which meant that he'd been hunting, right? (Never mind the lack of an Atma mark. It probably just wasn't visible from that angle and pose.) And the look on his face...*

*Heat.*Why his Second came to mind, he wasn't going to question. It had to have been that expression, the increasing anger. And when he said what he said ( ... )

There's the sound of quiet female chatter approaching Serph's location, and the source becomes clear as one human and three demons round the corner. Just in time to catch the last of the midnight television broadcast it seems, because Mitsuru stops short with a gasp of recognition.

"Continue on, I will have to join you later." Mitsuru mutters as she waves her employees on to start the baking at her cafe.

*Should he, or shouldn't he, eat some of his Onmoraki? This dilemma occupied a fair little bit of his concentration as he stood there, facing the window of blank TV screens. He sighed quietly through his nose, still frowning.*

....

*Mitsuru's voice brought him out of his contemplation when her voice finally registered in his distracted mind. He wasn't alone there. He looked up again, turning his head a bit to see her. Not having caught the words themselves, he wasn't certain if he'd been addressed or not, as there were other people nearby, and she was fairly close to him. He decided to wait; if she had been talking to him, she would surely show another sign of it. That's how things seemed to work.*

"Excuse me, but did you hear that man anything else? I-" She stops short, staring at the dead Onmoraki. And stares for a while, before slowly looking up at Serph again. Clearly, she's reconsidering her decision to speak to a man with a tattooed face and dead animals in hand.

That's just creepy. She's married to Death and still finds him creepy.

"...I'm very worried about him. His behavior has been...degenerating, to say the least."

*Ugh. Shura was all ready to go back to sleep with her head on Futomimi's chest and ignore the midnight channel... until she recognized Akihiko.

What had he done again...*
