[The device flicks on to show a redhead leaning back against a tree, smoking against even his own judgment. He doesn't have many left, but he figures one right about now seems like a good idea.]Alright, so that map showed me this isn't really what I'm used to so I guess there's a few basic questions I've gotta ask. For starters, how many of you out

[Wistful.] They took quite a few of the old elements that worked and reworked them into the setting. You'll find that most things are similar.
I guess the biggest difference would be the influx of new pokemon. There're some new faces around here that are pretty interesting.

And he looks on with interest at the porygon.]
Mm. Electronics, huh. [Wistful--] I've always wondered how the genderless pokemon bred. It's a weird thing, isn't it?

[His tone suggests he's joking and playing along but really, does it matter either way?]
My specialty was hacking, so I'm actually really got I got this guy. I'm hoping to get my hands on a computer and try and see if he really can go into cyberspace.

Well, there are computers in the pokemon centers. But they don't offer a lot of options, even for the technologically challenged. [Rueful.] But if you make your way to Goldenrod, it's a larger city.
[Whimsicallll] They say they sell everything there. Even dreams.

[Because a laptop is an absolute must, sooner or later.
He takes a minute to think over the first question before giving a shrug.]
A good amount. It wasn't too big, but not too small either. I was the top of the regular group, but the top two were the important ones. My friend was one of those two.

[He considers this.] Were the orphanage walls standing by the end of it?

[Matt pauses before switching the video over the private feed, just in case.]
-he died. Never picked a successor out of the top two, so they went their own ways to try and finish the case he was working on separately. After a couple years, I left too in order to go find my friend and see if I could help him. And one thing led to another and it ended up with what I told you.

[... but this entire thing intrigues him, somewhat. He thinks on it, lacing his fingers together and propping his chin on his hands. The first question he asks, of course, is why.]
It sounds like a series of unfortunate events.
[Sometimes, he wonders if it's a good thing that he's here, listening to all of these fantastical tales. Somehow, it's a little sad, knowing that there are lives out there that play out like this.] Did you ever wish it turned out differently?

Trust me, my friend was explosive enough to make up for it. He blew up a building somewhere along the way before I had to step in to help him out. It was dangerous, and a top secret case, so not everyone was allowed to get involved.
[For a minute though, he does consider if it should have gone differently.]
Maybe a few things. But honestly? I bought him enough time, and even if he died as well, the other pieces would have fallen into place. The one left behind, my friend hated him because he was number one, if he managed to put the last pieces of the puzzle together and solve the case because of our deaths? I wouldn't change a thing.

What are you going to do here?
[At the other's response, though, he smiles.]
A superhero. [/teases] Or at least utilitarianism. The greatest amount of good for the greatest number of people, or at least for people that's not you.
[wry.] They call those sacrifices. Optimism, depending on which books you read.

[He has to think over that other bit, even though really he had a pretty good idea already.]
This place has the potential to be pretty exciting too. That detective I mentioned, the greatest one in the world. Well, he's here. Haven't seen him since I was a kid, but this place works in weird ways I guess. I'm going to try and beat the game, take the gym challenge to find a way to get him back home. He's a breeder, so there shouldn't be any need for him to have to travel as much. I'd be alright with it though, so I'll see what I can do for him.

[If he's completely honest with himself, he could say that he isn't completely happy about that sort of attitude either. G'dang it Tezuka. :|
He tilts his head at the other's words, however.]
Well, I suppose that certainly gives you purpose. [He chuckles.] What is he like? This great detective of yours.

Can't say too much, he wasn't one for hanging around that often. My friend was the one who got to actually spend time with him, most of us kids at the orphanage just saw him and his reputation and looked up to him. He's definitely something interesting though, in his own way.

He chuckles.]
Mm, I guess playing twenty questions might be a little hard, when I'm not sure where I should start. I wonder if he's the sort to post on the network.
