Break Loose Ranch Master Fic Post
Break Loose Ranch is not a work in progress. It is a collection of standalone stories all centering around a fictional dude ranch owned by Jared Padalecki. In this 'verse, it's a few years later than now. Jared never went to Hollywood, and Supernatural tanked in a year without the infamous Padackles chemistry.
Jared's built a life at Break Loose with his best friend, resident dipshit Chad Michael Murray. According to Jared, despite being bi with a strong lean toward boys, his life's more Brady than Brokeback. Maybe that's because Jared himself is a good ol' boy, or maybe there's something charmed about Break Loose Ranch. That's for you to decide. *g*
The Break Loose saga begins when Jared meets Jensen at a Kane concert (but Kane's gone a little differently too, on account of Angel lasting seven years, on the strength of the Angel/Lindsey chemistry *g*) Chad drags him to. But that's not really the beginning. It's just a beginning, and from time to time, pieces may show up that pre-date Jensen.
I've said Break Loose isn't a work in progress, and in a way, that's a lie. I know the entire J2 arc. You can see it too, in riding shotgun to everything that's on my mind. But the thing that's most fun to me about Break Loose are the power dynamics and the friendships, how having a partner affects existing relationships. So, while I'll be writing the J2 arc (you bet your ass I will), I'll also be writing Chris and Dave, Steve, Chad and Eliza. Adrian, Milo, Tom, Mike, Sendhil and Alexis. Count on seeing just about anyone I squee about in my regular journal, provided I can find a good story to tell about them.
The thing about Break Loose is, it's my heart's home. I'm never going to write it "just because." It takes time and love and energy to hear the stories and the voices the way I want them, and while I'm writing to share mine and Jared's place with you, I'm writing it out of love for the place. I guess what I'm saying is, it'll come, I promise, but it's not likely to be fast, not if any of us want it to be good. Hope that'll sit right with y'all. Meantime:
