Best places to live?

Sep 22, 2007 17:03

My adventures with finding a new place to live continue. It struck me, as I was searching through apartment listings, that I can live anywhere I choose. I don't have to stay in Cincinnati.

Of course, that thought caused my brain to derail because there are way too many choices. Where should I go? (Should I go?) Maybe I'll make a list...

Canada!

Except housing costs in Edmonton suck right now, so don't come here. :(

I actually have Toronto on my list. Which isn't anywhere near Edmonton, but still--Canada! :)

GA, prices don't suck. Or FL, no state tax. NC is pretty cheap but some places have a tendency to flood. VA is sometimes fun.

MD is too damn expensive as is DC and CA

I'm not really big on Southern states--too warm and too bright. I do like Nashville and Charlotte, though. The good thing about this part of Ohio is the cost of living--it's pretty low. I can pay 500 dollars/month for an apartment that would be about 1200 in most other big cities.

Northern Virginia is pretty damn expensive, but it's fun and the people are usually pretty nice. That's the only place I've lived. ;)

Northern VA pretty much is DC, that's why it's expensive. anything on the northern side of quantico will cost you. both money, time in traffic, and sanity. did I mention I hate 95? ;P

How is Minnesota's public transportation? Or would I need a car to get around? I'm making a list of places to look into. :)

Maybe I should modify that to say--how is the public transportation around Minneapolis? :-D

Around Minneapolis, the public transportation system is damn good. In fact, the bus system here is pretty good as long as you stay within Minneapolis, St Paul or a major suburb of either.

metrotransit.org is the website for the major bus system around here.

Brooklyn, (in some areas, like where I live, in Bay Ridge :P) is very nice, but I would definitely advise you to not go anywhere near NYC if you want to be able to pay rent without selling your own organs.

Canada always sounded cool to me -- I mean... socialized healthcare! No Bush! Two dollar coins! Lots of pros to Canada.
