A lot of writers who listen to music as they write have soundtracks for their WIPs. I have soundtracks for the manuscripts I edit.

For Adrienne by D. Renee Bagby, it was October Project.

For His Convenient Affair by Tricia Jones, it was a lot of Badly Drawn Boy.

For Inventing the Abbotts by Jerri Drennen, it was Goldfrapp.

For Possession by Read more... )

*snort* Music. I play movies. I'm not watching them, I'm listening to them. I've seen them so many times that I don't need to watch them anymore.

I usually try to match up the movie with the sub-genre I'm writing. I think I ran thru the entire Daria series while doing edits on ADRIENNE (which doesn't match at all, it was just the least distracting). :) That and X-Men the Animated Series, Batman the Animated Series, and Armitage Poly-Matrix (both movies). The idea is to get me out of my chair at random intervals so I can switch out the dvds, otherwise I won't move.

I watched 300, V for Vendetta and Beauty and the Beast a few times while writing SERENITY. That reminds me, I need to think up a play list for my next WIP. Top of the list is Beowulf (though I can only watch that once).

You know, I do that too. Usually it's with sports, though--tennis or football--because if I put a movie on, I can't help but watch it.

300, V for Vendetta and Beauty and the Beast? That fits, actually.
