I love your thoughts here. Lana's desire to know the truth in early seasons struck me as understandable from her POV but too... intense? naive? confrontational? Not sure what the right word is but as you say, she did learn in later seasons that secrets have their place.
It was pretty intense and confrontational, especially during Seasons 4-6. I think she was trying really hard to be patient and failing miserably. A lot of it probably goes back with wanting to feel like a real, worthwhile part of someone's life and not just an object of worship and obsession. It's kind of a double edged sword that way, both a strength and a fault, and I love it that way.
Perhaps after finally learning the biggest secret being kept from her.
Yes, I believe that's exactly what happened. She couldn't really understand why Clark was so secretive until she knew what the secret was.
Comparing to Lois, I actually wish they had taken a Lana approach to her, in regards to the secrets... at least Lana was allowed to get mad about it, she was allowed to question, in S10 with Lois, it's like they completely removed her ability to get pissed off and confrontational, when I believe she had a right too as well.I haven't seen Season 10 yet so I can't speak on that, but in a way, it's not really fair to compare the two relationships. Lois definitely got the better deal. She got the older Clark who could actually come up with excuses, while Lana got him standing there shuffling his feet with absolutely no explanation for his actions. Lois got the dual identity so that she might connect the two together, while Lana had almost no point of reference to what he might be keeping from her
