I decided to take the "ship of the moment" interpretation and run with it.
You might say, wait a minute, don't Dean and Ruby hate each other? Yup. Itinit wonderfee?
Other than that, I think maybe if the situation was different, something could have been there. I think it would have been really dysfunctional, but I think it could have existed. Aside from the obvious, I think the biggest reason they hate each other is they're so alike. Just the same, being as similar as they are could lend to identifying with each other in ways not many others could. Trust me, having been the Ruby to several Deans in the RP world, it's a rocky one, but it can happen, and I love it.
