Oy (Weekend at Home edition)

1) I went to my parents' house this weekend fora family event and stayed until 8pm tonight. Oops. I guess I was enjoying not looking for jobs for two days? Also, I brought home the cold Dad had on Saturday and Mom got yesterday. Weekend plans may be contingent on whether I wake up feeling better or feeling worse ( Read more... )

I always thought Joan of Arcadia was pretty fun.

I really like it! I was skeptical of the premise when it was actually airing but I was watching it on YouTube a couple years ago when my Joe Mantegna interest kicked off and never finished so I figured I'd do that while I have time on my hands.

Everyone should watch The Playboy Club, even though it is horrible. A lot of it is filmed in Chicago and we need all the tv jobs we can get in this city!

Ha! I do actually have a couple of episodes saved up so I might give it a shot. I totally support filming in Chicago!

You are not a slacker! And you have nothing to be sorry for.

So glad to see you though! *hugs*

also, I watched New Girl last night and wanted to like it but... yeah. Who was recast? It is not nearly as fun as 2 Broke Girls!

Yay chicken soup!

Did you watch last night's episode or the pilot? Coach, from the pilot, was played by Damon Wayons Jr.and his other show (Happy Endings, I think?) got picked up so they introduced someone else as his friend Winston who would be living there. Instead of Coach, apparently. I like Winston FAR more than I liked Coach and I love Cece. Unfortunately the whole show hinges on everyone thinking Jess is cute and precious and...I liked the 2 Broke Girls pilot a lot more. :) I might give New Girl another shot, just because it was so vastly improved from last week's. I just...wish Jess didn't hit every ditzy girl stereotype and all the boys think it's annoying but ultimately charming.

Okay, so I have now watched last night's episode, and it was, actually, a lot better. Except, as you say, for Jess - the ditziness is really grating when it goes on and on and on. I am not writing off just yet, but it's on probation. :D

*hugs* I am excited about seeing you in October!

JOAN OF ARCADIA. was so great. *sigh*

and yes, Deputy Leo. I might at this point be watching just for him, which might not be enough.

Frrrrrrrrrrrrrrrringe. :D :D :D You could...I hate to even offer the suggestion, but you could almost skip nearly all of s1. It's got a lot of foundation elements, but the real plot doesn't kick in until nearly the end. This post offers an excellent overview: http://newredshoes.livejournal.com/1265515.html

OCTOBER! SO EXCITED! EEEEEEE! *hugs*

Joan of Arcadia is like, gazillion times better than I ever thought it would be. I watched some of it a couple years ago and loved, well, everyone, but for some reason didn't finish. That's the plan for now, though.

I didn't even realize he was Deputy Leo until I looked at imdb. I think they're trying to make people root for Nick/Jess but I'd actually rather see Schmidt/Jess and Nick/Cece. Not that I'll see any of them because their plan is probably going to be to tease every combo but the show is going to get cancelled before they get around to half of them. I found the second episode far less cringe-inducing than the pilot (100% fewer tears! No yelling!) but I'm sure as soon as there is something better to take up my time, it will be gone.

This is an EXCELLENT overview. I will see if I can overcome my completist OCD and start in the middle of season 1. I can always go back, right?
