State of the Smitty

Sep 08, 2009 16:15

I do not usually do birthday greetings, but because there's a long, complicated story about why reccea's birthday is important to us, I must say that she's 29 (for the first time, unlike some of us) and I am hoping she has a fabulous year.

In other news.

You have had quite a run of it the last few months. But there is a LOT of good on this list. So I WAHOO the wahoos and *HUG* for the less-than-wahoos, and stand here waving pennants and cheerleader pompoms.

Oh, scary about the dishwasher. I do the same thing...won't run the dryer but will run the dishwasher when I'm out of the house. It's hard, I know, but still it's nice that they have the perspective of the best things in life aren't things at all.

I am SUPER excited about going home to my box from Amazon.com with the Season 4 DVD of Criminal Minds. I will have faith, up until the moment I watch it, about the special feature that I am SURE is on there about Dave and Emily having super hot sex in his office when they're not on screen. I'm sure it's on there!!! And no, I don't want to discuss the whole Santa Claus thing with you.

Hope you had a lovely holiday weekend.

My family is pretty much made of awesome - I think the "possession" thing that hit my mom the hardest was losing her silver placesettings. She started collecting them at her wedding 35 years ago and just finished the last piece on her anniversary. Most of the pieces came from my grandparents, so of course the first thing she said was, "I don't want to tell Mom I lost all the silver," which was just heartbreaking. And you know, not her fault at all. But yeah, even Dad is bouncing back and he's generally humorless about this kind of thing ( ... )

Wow, that is super scary - I never would have thought dishwashers could burn down a kitchen! I'm glad everyone is ok & that your parents have good insurance!

My only secret to more exercise is to make social plans with people that involve exercise. For me, it's hiking, or even just walking around the neighborhood while chatting. I don't have a good plan for aerobic exercise yet - I like the idea of some equipment in my house to use while watching TV/movies, but I have yet to find a piece of equipment which I'll consistently use (the exercise bike makes a fabulous place to hang clothes for example). By which I mean, I'm totally with you on needing more exercise, and it's a habit I just can't seem to get to stick. So if you learn anything that works, please share, and if there's ways we can cheer each other on, I'm all for it.

I just wanted to say hello. I've missed seeing you around - your flailing inspired the icon. Will be really glad when you have internet. So sorry about the parents' house. I do the same thing. It's a good thing that no one was hurt. So there's a positive!

I started S2 of Leverage today thru NetFlix. Much better than the first one - IMHO. Sober is good (and much funnier). Have a friend who has traded me a Prossi fanvid for a Leverage fic. I must've lost my mind. But I'll suffer through.

Good luck on finding all your stuff.
