SGA Geekout

Jun 30, 2008 02:00

After a brief hiatus, I am once again trying to force my incredibly behind-schedule (read very very late) SGA fics to not suck, and so I am seeking inspiration in the form of SGA love.

Specifically Geek Love.

Honest-to-God, my favorite SGA geekout moment is the end of Inferno where Rodney uses the hyperdrive of the Orion to create a window to ( Read more... )

Sheppard and Mckay having their little shared brain moment that leads to them FLYING THE CITY. Nothing can really compare to that moment because I'd been waiting, oh, only the entire run of the show, to see that baby fly. And they did it! They flew Atlantis!

Let me repeat.

ATLANTIS FLEW OMG.

Yes, this, exactly. I even had a moment of fear earlier on in the show when I thought someone else (Ancients, possibly?) was going to get to fly the city first.

Eeee! I had that same fear - I think it was in Return, so yeah, the Ancients, definitely.

FLYING THE CITY. OMG, you have no idea how close I was to being all, "They FLY the FUCKING CITY. WATCH THE DAMN EPISODE."

*clings* Thank you. :D

I think my favorites are from The Storm:

1) Rodney and Zelenka are trying really hard to figure out a way to save the city, and they're sitting in the conference room. They're talking about that hurricane that hit Canada ("Oh, that's interesting." "Not really." "No, not really.") and then they kind of float over to talking about almost being hit by lightning, and then - BAM! Rodney's out of his chair, and it's just kind of rolling away on its own. Best eureka moment on the show. Which, of course, leads into...

2) ...the Rodney and Zelenka Roadshow for Elizabeth, describing what they're trying to do. It's SO CUTE, and they're SO SMART.

3) Of course, my very favorite:

WEIR: The city can handle that?
McKAY: Yes, theoretically.
SHEPPARD: Like, dinosaurs turned into birds theoretically, or theory of relativity theoretically?
McKAY: o_O What? Uh, sort of between.

Oh those are awesome! I think The Storm is one of my very most favorite episodes, for all those reasons and more!

omglawdork totally stole my theory of relativity moment. But I also like the one in... Trinity, I think? Where Rodney and Zelenka talk and then John sums up with something along the lines of "Big guns. Cool." And also the entire conversation about Mr. Fantastic. And the one about Evel Knievel v. Batman.

PLUS: The shifty adjustment of leg holster and shouting about databases in Echoes.

OMG, yes, when Rodney's all, "You wouldn't understand it, it's too technical," and John just rattles off the summary of the weapon's capabilities. *hearts*

I love WHENEVER they talk Batman!

Echoes was full of love, too. I heartily approve!

I don't know if it's really a geek moment per se, but I love that bit in Inferno (?) when Rodney rips the laptop off that had been velcro'd to his back. It's like, Fuck messenger bags, man. I AM AN ACTIVE GEEK, AND I NEED APPROPRIATE GEAR.

Yes! It's totally in Inferno - I watched that one the other night! That is a fantastic scene. I think I could hear the resounding fandom squee when it first aired.

Also, I feel that someone needs to write a fic called, "Lifestyle of the Active Geek" or something.
