It's a Scary World Out There

Newsflash: It's not just us, fandom! LJ is crazy, too! I voted in the LJ elections a few days ago, and I'm glad I did, because the level of UNACCEPTABLE has breached my common sense filter. The RL campaigns I have to keep track of are more civil than this, and whoever is going to win those elections...is going to hire a bunch of 25-year-olds to ( Read more... )

So, is Rodney a DC guy or a Marvel guy? He seems to have a real attachment to Batman, et al, but references the Fantastic Four quite a bit.

What about Sheppard?

Does Ronon have a preference?

What do they think of the GIANT ROBOT FIGHT?

ETA: Oh, and! Do they ever get Teyla reading any graphic novels or comic books?

Rodney is definitely a DC guy. In canon, I think he's probably not even a comics nerd - he's a comics movies and television nerd, but he doesn't really follow the storylines. He read the shorter one-shot books when he was younger and maybe some of the big trades like DKR. In Hero for a New Age, though, he followed several of the Batman books and kept an eye on what was going on elsewhere on various comic fansites. He probably traded comics with his fellow geeks at school, so he's familiar with Marvel and some of the Image books, but he was annoying and snippy about who touched his books with greasy hands or opened the book too widely. He was probably way up there with the Most Hated Posters on the Crossgen boards for the few years they were in operation and he probably predicted their downfall long before it actually happened ( ... )

I love talking about them reading comics, because comics are inextricably linked with both you and Husband in my mind, so it makes me happy to think about them. Comics = happy thoughts, even though I don't read them myself. Therefore, comics + SGA = A++++

My absorbed-by-osmosis knowledge of both DC and Marvel is getting kind of scary, though. ;-)

I also think Teyla would like Sandman.

Dude, GIANT ROBOT FIGHTS are TOTALLY AWESOME. :-D We should all totally watch that in Baltimore, if it's out on DVD.

I got it this morning - it was the resend, maybe? I didn't have one before. But sure! I am working today but will be home 7-8pm EST, and plan to be around all day tomorrow. (Friday.)

Eastern, time, yep! If I am not there, it is because I hauled myself out of bed in time to see Iron Man again, but I will be back in about an hour. (Most likely I will be too lazy to get there, but the possibility exists...)
