Your use of the term 'high' reminded me how thrown off by language I was the first few days in Mumbai - I didnt realize 'high' was used as a term for 'drunk' or 'in good spirits' as opposed to 'smoking marajuana', so I was convinced for about four days that I worked with a bunch of potheads ;)
There were similar cultural misunderstandings over the term 'jive' and 'flyovers' :P
hahah really? I didn't know that either. My then American/European friends in Singapore used to keep saying we were getting high on coke as opposed to drunk..neither of us would know what the difference between the two were, but the word stuck..
flyovers - I guess there's the British & American english difference...flying over or the road thing. I have never heard anyone using "jive" in India... wonder what they would mean... :)
