At dinner on Sunday, it somehow came up that I enjoyed washing dishes as a child. And because I was dancing 17 of the past 48 hours, with 3 hours dedicated to calling & choreography, dance was even more on my mind than usual. I compared it to a balance & swing, and everyone laughed and said I was crazy. Because I'd only had 12 hours of sleep in ( Read more... )

It's something you can always do right. Even if there's clothes on your floor and core samples of the crap on your desk would show you a cross section of the past ten years of your life, as least you have clean dishes.

This is how I feel about cleaning the bathroom. I was talking to my mother about this before I left on tour. I hate leaving on vacation. Even if I want to go, I hate leaving. I hate packing. I hate the uncertainty, I hate the insanity. But dammit I will have a clean bathroom to come home to. Cleaning a bathroom is a quantifiable task. I know exactly how to do it, where to start, and when I'm done. In short: it is the antithesis of nearly everything else in life, including packing for a trip.

I try to leave a clean kitchen when I go anywhere. But when I'm procrastinating something (like packing) it tends to prevent me from doing a lot of other things too. Hosting people was good for my apartment. It's still sort of clean.

I hate dishes so much that someday I might murder my roommate for leaving her stupid dishes in the stupid sink.

This is quite possibly true. Separate bathrooms are also a good call.

Of course, I'm just over having roommates at the moment unless they are keeping me satisfied. :-)
