This is one of the things I talked about in my blog post. The two guys actually arrested for perjury & covering up the abuse are still employed by the University, which is paying for their defense. Schultz actually oversaw the Campus Police department at the time, which makes it even more mind-boggling that he opted to ignore the thing. So why ( Read more... )

They should all be fired.

Do you guys have campus security or campus POLICE? They are two very different things.

I believe PSU has campus police. I'm not sure what UND has as I haven't had to deal with them (that being where I'm actually at).

Okay. I'm seeing the two used by the news sort of interchangeably (not a surprise).

If all they had is campus security, then they don't have powers of arrest or investigation, so if JoePa called campus security, THEY would have had to turn it over to the State College police.

The easiest way to tell is if they're armed. If they're armed, they're commissioned, and they can do things like arrest. Our university just switched from security to police, which...well, don't even get me started on THAT. But it was funny when they realized they could no longer just knock and enter residence halls. They'd have to follow the IV Amendment :)

BUT, you are correct in pointing out that they still operate lots to keep sexual assault of women quiet. Any sexual assault is disgusting, it shouldn't matter who the victim is.
