Some peoples' idea of 'science' sounds far too much like monotheism for my comfort. Beware the unexamined assumptions, especially in supposedly objective viewpoints.

A lot of it is based off of, well, Genesis. There's this idea (and I've had the argument with my agnostic hubby) that we have the right to muck with our environment however we please, in order to make life more comfortable for us.

It seems the conservatives started the whole "messiah" meme. I have yet to speak to, hear of, or read one single Obama supporter who even comes close to thinking he's anything near to like that.

That said, they do pretty much think that of Reagan, if not Bush, and so they must believe we're all nuts.

Some right wing d-bag on a pretty upscale sports forum I read was pontificating yesterday about how "no other president" has gotten the cheerleading from the media that Obama has. "Just go ahead...name one."

I responded that the media is still on Reagan's nutsack all these years later...making him out to be Washington or Jefferson. (I refrained from commenting on the Messiah-making around Bush...and Giuliani...after 9-11.)

More I think about the poem, the more irritated by it I get. Crappy poem (other than a couple short sections)...but the reading was even more amateurish than the composition. C'mon...all those Hollywood A-listers doing recitations at the Sunday Lincoln Memorial concert and it didn't occur to the inaugural committee to enlist one of them to read the poem with an ounce of sensitivity? Bleah...
