I've started hearing about this new trend, I don't get it. I can't think of a single band I like so much I'd want to hear nothing but their music all day every day. Variety, people!

Mostly what happens with the single artist channels is that the artist in question has a new album coming out so for a month one of the stations that might play that artist on occasion becomes the "24 Hour Whoever Station" to promote the new album. They did the same thing when the Bruce Springsteen album came out last fall. (I heard about it because they took over one of the stations my uncle liked to listen to all the time)

I go in phases where I'll listen to a particular artist a *lot*, to the point of listening to only that artist as much as possible, but I usually move out of those obsessive phases in a week or two. It's typically because the music matches a particular mood I'm in at the moment.
