Too Damn Cold...

Remember how last week my elbow was all stiff & sore? Yeah, repeat that, only it's my right knee. Fun. At least I could still snow-blow the driveway since Uncle D got a new tire for the blower. Unfortunately, I can't spend much time downstairs in my studio in the basement because it makes the knee hurt more- *much* more. There's no actual heat ( Read more... )

Working with iron or steel is almost always hot. Working with non-ferrous metals- like silver, copper & bronze, which is what I work with- mostly isn't. The only hot-working I typically have to do is soldering, annealing, & casting-- & sometimes forging, but even that's usually cold.

Today, I was working on some wax models for casting. There is some heat involved- a small alcohol lamp for heating the tools & melting the wax. Doesn't do much to raise the ambient temperature, I'm afraid. It kinda bums me out because one of the things that seemed to help my arm was moving it & doing things with it. Throwing an extra shirt & a sweater on kept my arm warm enough to work, but that's less of an option with my knee since I can't really layer my pants the way I do my shirts.

Or maybe I can... I've got some leggings that I hadn't been able to fit into last time I tried them but I've dropped quite a bit of weight since then. I should pull them out & see if I can get into them.

Yeah, I was astounded by the amount of snow & the low temps. I wanna move, too. :-(

And I hear ya on the job stuff. Haven't heard anything. Last night I had an anxiety dream about it tho. Fun.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. :-)
