It looks like the local Border's is hiring, where my friend M currently works. So, I applied today. I also filled out all the appropriate stuff to sit the civil service test & work for the welfare office here. Unfortunately, the soonest I could sit the test is the end of February, which is a long time to go without a paycheck. I did apply for

As an FYI: for PA jobs, it's not one civil service test, there's a different test for each job. There are probably some positions that are lumped into one test, but the aging casework test and the IMCW test will be entirely different, unless they've re-written them in the last six months.

You can sometimes take the test sooner if you physically visit Careerlink and they have a station open. I'm not entirely sure how that works, though, as that's not how the tests were administered when I took mine.

I had a feeling they were different tests. Is the IMCW test the one listed as "Social worker 1" or "Social worker 2"? Or is that another test entirely & I've applied for the wrong thing?(SW2 is the same test as SW1 but with another section added on, at least, that's what it looks like from the web site)

IMCW is its own thing. IMCW work is nothing whatsoever like social work. It's a bit like doing taxes. SW1s and SW2s work, I think, in offices like OCY.
