Things To Feel Better

Nov 01, 2005 22:05

I told singingwren yesterday that two musical bits always improve my mood- the band They Might Be Giants & the Pixies song "Here Comes Your Man."

I just got reminded of something else that's guaranteed to make me feel better-- new pictures of my beautiful baby niece! :)

babyniece, mood

My very best boyfriend ever (whom I'm still good friends with) first got me hooked on them in High School. They were the first band I ever went out of town to see- a friend took us to Pittsburgh to see them at the South Hill Theater on the Flood tour. I borrowed Jer's t-shirt to wear under my graduation robe since I didn't own anything white to wear under it. They're first 3 albums are soooooo much fun but I have them on tape (CDs not being so common back then, especially with us poor kids)

One of my studiomates got the alphabet album they put out recently. It's got to be weird for our profs to walk in & find us all singing along about the alphabet. :)

It's hard not to feel better about life with pictures of that little cutie grinning at you. It's just too bad she's on the other end of the country at the moment.

I'm going to use the pic in my icon for a stone litho portrait of her that I'm going to give to all the family for Yule/Christmas/{insert winter holiday of your choice here}

TMBG are cool.

But if I'm ever in a funk, all I have to do is listen to "Sunyata" by Vas. By the end of the cd, I am happy.

Natacha Atlas' "Halim" is a good one, too. Great for dancing too.

I've weirded out some of the other students when they've wandered into the studio while I'm dancing. One of the grad painters thought I was doing yoga. :)
