For Father's Day today, my grandparents wanted to take the family out to dinner. They chose a restaurant that I had never been to (because it's pricey, and I was amazed that they chose it!) but was eager to try. I am so glad that we did. Magnum and Steins has been on my list to eat for a while now, but it's not something I could ever afford on my ( Read more... )

this entry made me incredibly happy and jealous --until I got to that bit about your grandfather. makes me sad. But, such is life. and, if he is 88 and what not, and was able to (no matter how difficult) climb those stairs, well, kudos to him. he may not have accomplished everything he wanted to, but I'm sure at 88 (no matter how poor his health) he's probably just glad to be alive. I know I would be.

but all that food sounds incredible! I'm always amazed at your culinary adventures.

He's done a hell of a lot, and I don't think he has any regrets, really. He's totally my hero.

Gosh, do you have to describe the food so beautifully? TwT
And wow, that is expensive..
I'd be nice if places like that had more provisions, like an elevator. *0*

It would have been nice if they had an elevator, but it's a really old building and even the staff had to go up and down the stairs carrying trays of food! I think they should take out one of the booths on the main floor and make it into a larger table area just for this reason.

I do, too. It's definitely where I spend the majority of my money. But it's sooo good!

He was fine once he got off the stairs. I think we should choose a place that's handicap friendly next time, and probably go at a time when the restaurant isn't so busy so we can speak louder for him to hear. He has a hearing aid, but it amplifies EVERYTHING so in a crowded restaurant everything is just this huge cacophony that makes him cranky. I get it.
