What I am thankful for...

So, today is Thanksgiving for those of us in Canada...yesterday as well. Some people celebrate on the Sunday so they can goof off on Monday. Some people celebrate Monday. I celebrate both due to...well, my fractured and disjointed family. Yesterday's wasn't all that bad. That was with the father's side. Just me, my dad, sister, stepmom, ( Read more... )

Because I appear to be an idiot, tell me about Canada's Thanksgiving? Does it involve pumpkin pie & indians & pilgrims & such *lol*

I'm happy you're thankful you. You should be. You are fantastic.

I like your drivel, for what it's worth :p

Ummm...Thanksgiving in Canada...
Turkey...pumpkin pie...cranberry sauce...really, all the same foods...not so much about the pilgrims, as they landed in some strange country to the south. We do have Indians, or rather, we call them Natives, or Aboriginals, and we did screw them over, but that's not really what thanksgiving is about either. More of a sort of harvest celebration, and since Canada's climate is cooler, we naturally have to have our harvest celebration sooner.

...and thanks! :)

I'd say....go where you want to go, despite expense and potential misery and grumblings from people. I do the family thing at holidays as a symbollic gesture to my family. Sometimes, I surprise myself and I actually enjoy myself. I am aware of why I do it and I'm fine with that. At least I know if things get bad, I have my sister to look at and we'll both roll our eyes and mutter a converstion under our breaths.

I actually don't wish I had a boyfriend around the holidays...I am absolutely inept at family stuff from years of dysfunction, so I don't wish myself on anyone else's family celebrations.

But, good luck with your holiday plans. I am over thanksgiving drama. It was mostly anticlimactic. Now, it's just Christmas to wait for...
