I like to ask questions about bodily functions apparently.

I have IBS. Most of the time *I'm* not comfortable being in the bathroom with me on the second one.

fair enough. I don't care either way. Esp if I'm comfortable enough with a girl that I'm sleeping with her, then pooping is no big deal, since sex is far more personal.

Though I have heard from a girls view it's not the intimacy issue. It's that sex is a positive thing where as if she poops in front of him it shows she's not "perfect" and thus a boy might not like her as much. *shrug*

Well as a girl, my view is that sex and pooping are both positive things. However, having sex is a group activity while pooping or peeing is stricly solo.

Digging deeper into the subconscious, whenever I consider expelling body waste together with a significant other, I immediately associate it with dominance/submission games. So using the toilet while someone watches me is then categorized as humiliating. And while I may have at one time been a dabbler in BDSM stuff, humiliation play was never, ever my thing. Ugh. *shudder*

Despite all this I have absolutely no qualms about discussing bodily functions, least of all with my SO :-)

I think that comfortable and willing are two different things.

Ideally, all bathrooms (well, the toilet part) would be one-person affairs. That said, I think that peeing while an SO is behind a shower curtain with the water running isn't too big a deal (although I don't think I've ever done it, and I think you're right that it's less of an issue with guys.

I'm surprised that no one has voted "only if they can't see me" for #2 (erm, the function or the poll ;-) I voted "no" because I don't think I'd be comfortable in any case, but in an emergency I'd be more comfortable if said hypothetical SO wasn't actively watching me.

In either case, I would be more comfortable being the other person in the room, which probably says more about my own self-consciousness than anything else.

I'm finding these polls kinda fascinating. Keep them up please!
(Although I'm also inclined to make the same "Life story, please" request that you made of me after I disappeared for a while ;-)

Yeah, there's definitely a difference. For instance, I am deeply uncomfortable with the idea of someone watching me go. However, I did pee once in the presence of a significant other so clearly I must be willing. However, it is also one of the most painful memories of an overall very painful relationship.

And oh, my life story is so boring. Here is my day: I get up. I go to class. I come home and play World of Warcraft. On weekends, it's the same except minus the class part. The only interesting part is that I'm in this relationship and I'm marrying the dude but I'm not sure when because he has to get a Visa first, being a dirty furriner. Late this summer sometime I guess.

Sounds like my day, except I don't have the World of Warcraft to come home to. Just cats.

But, wait, you're engaged? Congratulations!

I'm a guy so I may be biased. I wouldn't pee and poop in front of them right away or anything but to me either act is no big deal. As the book says "everybody poops". So I am not very self conscious about it, since it's not like they don't do the same thing when they are on the toilet too, hehe

Since we're going there...

Watching me take a whiz? Sure.
Watching me take a dump? Sure.
But the wiping, not so much.

But it's not an issue because my gf is much more private. For showering, even.
