I'm going to f*cking kill this kitten

Aug 20, 2008 18:59

So, first things first, my uncle passed away early this morning, just about the same time I was boarding my Virgin America flight to JFK, which by the way was AWE-some with its the purple "mood" lighting, sleek white plastic-backed seats, and personal touch screen computers on which i ordered a delightful cheese and fruit box that the adorable ( Read more... )

Thanks sweetie. But this was also my 2004 (dad and favorite aunt died within 10 days of each other). Actually, it's been like this since 2001! My grandmother first, then one by one... it SUCKS, as i'm sure you know. :-)

I'm really sorry for you and your mom. It's been a tough year. How well does your mom deal when you're not there? My mom would casually mention little things (“I almost burnt the house down last night…”) that would make me feel like maybe I should be paying more attention. But she'd brush things off.

(Not to be creepy, but we really need to go out somewhere (with the husbands) and have a nice dinner with Big Girl Drinks. I had a fun time talking to you at the party.)

Mark-the-Ex and I once inherited two cats. One day over cocktails, we asked one another, “Where's Clarabella Rosellini?” A little rustle at that moment took our attention to the drapes, up which she had run halfway. Mark-the-Ex turned to me. “Ah. There's my future long-haired calico little tea cozy.” Good luck with your kitty.

Thanks, Paul. It's actually been a tough SEVEN years for her, but who's counting?!

Mom does very well actually. She can't hide her true feelings from me, so for example, when she called me Monday and told me about my uncle and her voice was cracking, i knew i had to get on a plane as fast as possible.

I sooo want a kitten!

Trouble is they grow up into cats, then live for ever so you have to wait and wait and wait till they die and you can get a new one.

I’m thinking I might have to get somewhere with a big garden and get baby piggies or goats or sheeps, which are all really cute, then when they get old and boring you can kill and eat.

ok all caught up...

this doesn't seem to be AS dramatic as your aunt...?

still - sorry about it. hope you enjoy time with mum.

love you, sweetheart!

Good observation, it's not nearly as dramatic as my aunt. No one expected Uncle Howie to last long after his wife passed in 2004. But he hung on much longer than anyone expected. Aunt Mary's death was VERY unexpected, literally one of those "you have a week to live" deals. THAT was very hard, especially because mom and Mary were extremely close. Anyhoo...

Love you too, dear!
