Get ANGRY!

By now, we have all read about the Republican owner of Manhunt supporting John McCain, thanks to our friends JoeMyGod (whose blog you really should be reading if you aren't already) and Towleroad.

Because I’m a cynical New Yorker at heart, I'm guessing about 80% of you probably scanned the items lackadaisically and turned your attentions back to ( Read more... )

I did something I have not done in 3 years. Sent a message to the 1200+ people on my email list to leave Manhunt and why!

I never had any use for the site anyways.
Hopefully they lose lots and lots of money.

Excellent. That's what we should ALL be doing: spreading the word and encouraging our friends to take a stand.

I've gotten a slew of thank you emails but only 2 remove me requests, including one who says "Please remove me from all lists and future mailings. This is no longer a fun and frolicky list of movies to share with other like minded people. Politicals views have NO place here. Even though I agree with you, it was inappropriate to send."

Go figure.

I might have to agree with that comment Dave. If you recall, I dropped Moviebears and it was for a similar reason. :-)

So yeah, I'll be cancelling...and damn them after months of that thing laying inactive they lured me back with three months for only $15 promotion. It's not that the $15 will hurt me...but that money could have gone to something useful...like a martini.

On the more serious front - I'm sure you boys or people you know are connected somewhat with the organizers of Folsom. You should see what can be done about seeing if they'll refuse to allow Manhunt to have a booth or be a sponsor of any events - if not at this years event then all future events for sure.

I'm glad to hear that! And that's a great point about Folsom. I'm checking into it. :-)

Forget that, take their money and then stage a protest. Now THAT'S American.
This is still a free country and while we can choose not to support the site, he should not be denied his own rights to vote and believe what he wants. Prohibiting him from being a part of the community is ridiculous and short-sighted.

Flip the script- I wouldn't support any community that tried to deny any one their freedoms. It doesn't mean I agree or will support their business, but it doesn't mean they should be denied their rights to one.
