I think what I like best about this is exactly how many ways it can be taken-- in the character interactions, the relationships between them, the why's and how's behind their actions, their mannerisms and everything in between. You make The Joker's line of thinking somehow seem more clear without taking away from it, without making it /logical/ or /sensible/ in the slightest, just shining light on it with a subtlety that I definitely envy here. The way you write /all/ of the characters is fab and I definitely will keep an eye out if you write anything else
