Neal is on the couch, eyes closed, his candle on his stomach and his knife in his hand. He's running his fingers over the sharp edge, never going deep enough to cut but enough so that he can't fall asleep

Peter's been trying to figure out how to start this conversation all day, and now that Elizabeth is home and they probably should, he still has no idea what the best way to approach it is.
He's not going to let that stop him, though, and when he's finally accepted that the right way isn't going to occur to him if he gives it another five minutes, he finds his way to Elizabeth.
"Are you ready?" he asks quietly, because if she wants to wait he will. He's not sure he can do this without her there, and he's almost certain Neal will listen to both of them more readily than just him. Maybe not by much, but any little bit counts.

They have to do this, she tells herself. There's no getting around it. Neal is deteriorating right in front of him and he doesn't need to do that. They have hat they need and it's time for all of this to stop.
"I love you," she says softly, leaning to press a kiss against his lips.
He kisses her gently, tightening his hand around hers when he pulls away. "I love you, too," he answers, taking a deep breath before he steps away and starts back into the living room.
"Neal?" he says as he steps into the living room, moving slowly closer to the couch. "How are you feeling?"
She follows behind him, looking carefully around to peer at Neal. He seems...well, not normal exactly but normal for what it has become. That's a relief kind of.
He looks up at them, pulling the knife away from his fingers and swirling it in his hand. "I'm all right," he says carefully. "How are you guys?" He can sense something's going to happen, hes just not sure what.
