It's several days later that Neal finds sitting on the Burke's couch, Satchmo sitting in front of him. He's scratching the dog behind the ears and it all feels so, so normal.
But it's not, not for them.
Nothing's changed for him, he's still the same man he's always been, but he knows they look at him differently now and it's hard to not let that weigh against his mind.
Elizabeth is in the kitchen making coffee. She has something a little stronger n stand by but she figures they should start slow.
She walks back into the living room, setting Neal's coffee down on the coffee table in front of him before doing the same with her and Peter and settling down next to him.
