Reminiscing

It was exactly a year ago today (in Japan time, or tomorrow in America time) that I met, and subsequently went home with, my host family. I remember being ridiculously nervous about meeting them.  They were an hour late (which I later learned would be the norm for my host mother) and I had gotten there 30 minutes early as well, so I spent  1 1/2 ( Read more... )

Wow, I miss just about all of that stuff too, minus my family sinse I didn't really get a chance to do anything with them really. But yeah, I really do miss Gaidai, you get so used to the ruitine and finding the stuff in the area and going to kyoto every other day. *sigh* why do I have to be graduating? I wanna go back><. Saddly, even though i've sent an email off to everybody back there, they're all ignoring me ;_; nobody replied. I feel unloved.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and your experience!

Sorry your host family was an hour late. That was rude, and shouldn't be a norm. I also would be nervous if I were in your situation of meeting your host family, especially if I couldn't understand what they were saying. It's also scary to have many people in a small house.

I think it was rude for Otousan to stare at you, especially for such a long time. Was he also nervous hosting you? I'm glad he warmed up to you, and tuaght you how to make takoyaki.

You sure had a good host family, but sorry Okaasan was a bad driver. Was she reckless? I'm glad you got to have sisters. I don't have sisters either.

You didn't sound egostistical. It's good you were able to pick up so much Japanese in just a few weeks. The best way to learn a new language is to spend time in the country and practice it. You were able to adjust in a week? That was fast. Then again, I take forever to adjust.

I understand missing your host family and Japan. I hope you can go back some time.
