there was a post on this group about what wave dashing was exactly. ill just copy it :P

Wavedasing:
"Wavedashing is a technique used to move side-to-side as quickly as
possible and make strategies easier to perform. To wavedash, stand in place
and hold the control stick southwest or southeast depending on what
direction that you want to go. While holding the control stick, jump, and
immediately air dodge by pressing "R". If you did it correctly, you
shouldn't see the shield and the character should slide horizontally along
the ground."

Wavesmashing: Do wavedash then use the C-Stick to do a smash attack. Basically a sliding smash attack.

Waveshield: Shield while wave dashing: lets you setup a quick grab.

Theres some other techqniques im learning about:

Wavedancing: Wavedash left and right very quickly so you stand in one place. This lets you pull off ANY move very quickly and your opponent has no idea what you plan to use.

Im also trying to practice catching the Bob-omb...trust me....its hard @_@
