I was flipping the channels this morning and came across the 1940s verison of Pride and Prejudice.  It was awful.  I'm not sure who the actors were but it didn't work at all.  The one playing Elizabeth was older than Jane.  Pemberley wasn't even in the movie at all.  When they had the ball at Netherfield, half of it was outside during the day with ( Read more... )

OMG... I watched P&P too Miranda! I've actually seen it before, I'd forgotten how badly they'd done it and it's a total shame that Laurence Olivier was in such a horrible version, with a half decent script he would have been a great Darcy. As for Lizzie, that would be Greer Garson who has never been a favorite of mine. All in all one of the worst adaptations Hollywood has ever made.

As for the Keira Knightley version, if they screw it up at least we still have the sublime A&E version to enjoy, it really will be hard to beat Colin Firth as Darcy anyway.

Yea we will always have the Colin as Darcy, and that's what matters most.
