Not really a sudden outburst... just was feeling bummed over the growing number of anti-American Americans. I feel like it's beginning to be "uncool" to appreciate the country of which I am a citizen...

Yeah, that sucks. In my country, very few people are truly patriotic. I'm not, too. And I must say it is no wonder. Foreign powers ruled over our lands literally for centuries, so there was little to no room for a "national pride" to grow up. Take the last century for example: until 1918, we were ruled by austrian monarchy. 1918 - 1938 our lands were free for the first time in centuries, but then the nazis came. After 1945, we got under Soviet influence and we stayed there until 1989... Something like that simply cannot be undone in mere 20 years ( ... )

While your country has had good reason in the past to feel more or less "unpatriotic", my country has no excuse. Instead, it's a bunch of whiny, selfish prats who take all their freedoms and liberties for granted. Instead of appreciating all the freedoms we have, they choose to abuse them (especially the 1st Amendment's freedom of speech clause) and promote anti-American propaganda ( ... )
