Happy birthday to him, albeit a tad... late. Goose also claimed this tree, but rather, the top of it. He nestled himself comfortably within the brush, curled up and cheery as he witnessed the explosions in the sky.

That is, until he noticed Shinon. What else would be a good birthday present? Hmmm... maybe one could be a very, very bothered (and thus amusing) Shinon. Yes, that would be perfect.

Goose then hung upside down from a branch, directly in front of Shinon. Goose's hair? Right in his face. Yeeeeeeahhhhh.

"PBTBTBTHTHH," was the melodic noise that swam from his vocal cords as he gracefully landed. Absolutely beautiful. Or not.

Once he got his bearings, he maneuvered himself onto his rear and rubbed his head. Boy, was he ever dizzy now?

"Yeah, I know. Which is why I did it. It's my birthday sorta, so I do what I wanna~."

Oh, of all the things...

Ulki didn't like this. This was so, so loud that if he were a mere child, he could only imagine how he would react. After so many years of learning to adapt with a world of daily explosions of sound, well... he still had a hard time handling real explosions. And this many, too.

Why did it have to be on top of the clock tower...? This is one of the only times appropriate for this icon. That's how upset Ulki is.

Each and every year, fireworks would go off. Whether it was for midsummer, New Year's, or just because the students couldn't go two days without blowing something up. Each and every year, Lighter would be startled awake and panic until he realized what was going on, at which point he would grumble to himself.

But this year would be different. By now he was finally starting to expect them around this time of year, and given that they'd been going off all week around the city, he barely batted an eye when tonight's display started up.

This year, he brought a fold-up chair out to the field and settled down to watch.

Fireworks in July. There was nothing strange about that, of course - it was one of the more normal things that happened in the city - but being able to experience it first-hand for the first time since her death brought a flood of memories of celebrations past, particularly of a carnival two summers ago.

On a night just like this...

The woman made her way to the roof of the teacher's dorms, wine bottle in hand. She had no plans to drink any, but just holding it gave her a bittersweet feeling of nostalgia.

What, more fireworks?! The holidays were over, and he wasn't behind this particular display. Something about it didn't have Lash's flair, either. Too subtle. So what the heck could it be?!

Oh well. Why question a good thing? Answer: Because he was a scientist. But he would pass up the investigation for now in favour of heading outside and laying on the grass, hands folded over his chest as he watched the sky.
