Guy was breathing heavily as he readied for battle; he was dressed in his traditional Sacaen clothing, all mended after his practice session with Roy's slight damages. His sword was at his side, its scabbard left behind in his dorm for today. He went through his usual series of stretches and practice sword swings, being careful to avoid standing near anyone else ( ... )

Knowing that Guy would not be able to understand her while in Pokemon form, Ivysaur simply gave him a nod and silently wished him luck. As the platform began to rise, Ivysaur curiously observed his clothing. It had a unique design to it that she had never seen before. The fighting stance that he had taken upon himself was new to Ivysaur as well seeing as she had never gone up against a swordsmen before, nor had she ever seen one in the past.

Fortifying her stance, Ivysaur prepared herself as the battle began. Studying her opponent intently, she decided to play it safe.

Suddenly taking a strong, quick step back, leaves began streaming out of Ivysaur's bulb. ...A test of his abilities. she thought calmly as she sent forth her leaves at Guy. Razor Leaf!

Guy's footing didn't falter a bit as the platform rose, and he found himself facing Ivysaur at the other end. He swung his sword in anticipation, and watched carefully as she stepped back; unfortunately, little could have prepared him for the leaves streaming from her bulb. Slightly shocked, he let the first leaf connect, grazing his cheek, but he managed to avoid the rest by quickly leaning out of their path. He felt the leaves zoom past his face, and steeled himself, quickly retaliating by dashing in, readying a spin and a fierce downward slash.

His speed is quite good. Ivysaur thought as she watched Guy dodge her leaves after the first one connected with his cheek. Then, after seeing him dash in and readying a spin, she easily concluded that he specialized solely on close-ranged attacks.

Taking a defensive step back, Ivysaur waited for Guy to swing down before letting her shield up to block it. As the sword came to a stop on her shield, she made use of Guy's momentary pause to wrap her vines around his waist. Putting more strength into her hind legs, she did a complete spin in order to use the momentum to swing and throw Guy off the stage behind her.

Guy somewhat expected the shield, but underestimated his foe, and gasped as the vines shot out and took hold of him. He felt himself being swung around much faster than his father would ever swing him as a child, and had to steady himself mentally as he was tossed behind Ivysaur. Not about to give up so early, he did a backflip in the air, and used the momentum to swing hard beneath him; directly at Ivysaur.

Never before had Ivysaur felt the experience of being cut by the sharpness of a blade. Thus, the impact of the sword creating a gash on her shoulder had her cringe in pain. Not wanting to let the shock prevent her from countering, Ivysaur immediately lashed out her vines to deal a few vicious blows.

Twisting in the air, Guy managed to avoid a couple of the vine attacks, but was struck hard by one of them, sending him crashing into the ground, skidding a few feet before coming to a stop. He felt his weight teeter from foot to foot as he rose as quickly as his aching muscles would allow, trying to ready himself against further attacks from Ivysaur. Hope I don't get hit by that one again...

Calculating the power and reaction times between the two of them, Ivysaur decided to play it safe again as dashed forward, came to a quick stop, and summoned her leaves for another Razor Leaf attack. This time, however, she formulated other strategies to counter his sword and good reflexes.

Weaving and twirling through the leaves, Guy made his way through to Ivysaur. Instead of launching a full on attack, however, he rolled past her, turned on his heel, and whirled wildly at her from behind, his blade spinning with his body. Guy hoped the strange technique would catch her off guard, but readied himself to roll away should it be unsuccessful; he just needed a little time to steady himself after the dizzying ordeal.

It was unexpected, to say at the least, in Ivysaur's mind for Guy to roll past her. However, due to her past experiences of surprise attacks from meeting new diverse Pokemon, Ivysaur learned to maintain a calm mindset during her battles. As Guy turned on his heel to attack, Ivysaur activated her shield to protect her as she tumbled forward before using her vines to launch her into the air. Tilting her head back, she soared over Guy upside down. The moment her bulb was seconds away from being aligned with Guy, she released a burst of gas in an attempt to stun and damage him. The impact of the burst pushed Ivysaur slightly higher into the air as she prepared for Guy's counter. If he didn't counter, Ivysaur planned to spike him during his recovery time.

Dizzy already from the spinning, Guy got a face full of... he wasn't quite sure what the gas was, but it hurt, and he was completely stunned. He panicked, watching as Ivysaur wound up a spike, and when she let it loose, the jarring impact sent him soaring into the side blast line. Darkness pervaded his senses for a few moments, then he blinked, finding himself on a strange platform. He took advantage of the height, and leapt over to Ivysaur, aiming a pair of aerial strikes; a quick thrust to distract her, and a wide slash to knock her away.

Figuring that her shield was already at half its full potential, Ivysaur decided to take a risk and use her vines to deflect some of Guy's hit in order to preserve her shield. Thus, as the first two strike came, Ivysaur managed to maneuver her vines to parry Guy's sword by hitting its flat side. However, the gap within her vines allowed Guy to make a quick thrust at her, which she barely managed to dodge. Wincing at the fresh cut to her cheek, Ivysaur slightly stumbled back barely managing to bring up her shield in desperation to block the wide slash as it sent her tumbling backwards towards the edge of the stage.

Refusing to give Guy the upper hand, Ivysaur scrambled onto her feet while ignoring the painful pangs her shoulder gave off. Dashing forward as fast as she could while Guy landed, Ivysaur shot her vines once again to latch onto Guy. Managing to capture her target, she lifted him into the air as she drew him in and used her bulb to bounce him into the air. At that moment, she launched her bullet seeds towards Guy.

Guy was glad he was getting at least a few hits in; he was especially pleased with his performance, considering how many different methods of attack Ivysaur had. However, his satisfaction was short lived, as the strange vines wrapped around him once more, he was smacked hard by the bulb, which was a lot sturdier than it appeared, and then came the bullet seeds. Guy let out audible yelps of distress as he was pummeled by the attack; no one hit was particularly damaging, but they added up quickly ( ... )

Guy's method of grabbing and hitting left Ivysaur feeling aggravated as she was sent crashing coarsely onto the ground. Unable to recover from the attack quickly enough, she felt the full force of Guy's next attack which successfully knocked her out of the stage.

Peeved at being treated as a large golf ball, Ivysaur was consumed by darkness before reappearing on a small platform above the stage. Wanting to return the damage, she jumped off the platform towards Guy and dipping her head downwards to give her body a spinning descend. Using the momentum of the spin, Ivysaur extended her vines for a long range attack.

Guy grinned as Ivysaur flew off the stage, glad the match wasn't completely one-sided. He watched as she reappeared and leaped above him, preparing for the spinning descent; however, the vines caught him off guard. He let out a yelp, trying to throw up his shield bubble but not quite making it before the vines gave him a thorough smacking, sending him crashing into the ground again.

Dazed slightly but still stubborn as ever, he recovered from the ground with a spinning lash from his boot. It was a risky move, but he needed to interrupt any attacks she had prepared for him.
