Sparring simply wasn't the same as a Pokemon battle. And this stadium was totally different than any Marie had ever seen.

"Oh. Fair enough. Uh... Good luck?"

Was that it? They could start fighting? Marie took a few steps back went back into Squirtle form. He felt a lot tinier now... The stadium seemed a lot bigger and his teammates were a lot farther away. ...But he could do it. The guy just said 'in a jiffy' for goodness sake.

OH DEAR ARCEUS the stadium was changing. Marie hadn't been prepared for the sudden change and slid backwards slightly before he got his bearings. Snow and ice... Marie wasn't the biggest fan of the stuff, but at least he'd have a slight advantage.

There was water. Beneath the rest of the stage, there was water. Presumably it was icy cold water, but Marie couldn't bring himself to care as he jumped up to use surf. Prepare yourself, Tony. This move packs a serious punch.
