A necessary distraction...

On a hot summer night, SumaBura and the surrounding area seem perfectly serene. The only sounds are distant traffic, restless crickets, and maybe quiet chatter amongst students headed to their dorms.

Another sound, barely audible, joins the night music: a match bring struck, followed by something sizzling.

Fireworks! Everywhere

Parakarry dropped his notebook on his desk when he noticed faint glows coming from outside. He rushed out the door to see the blossoms of light in the night sky.

"Wow...I wonder what the occasion is." He decided to fly up to a nearby tree to get a better view.

Both Porky and Marshmallow watched the fireworks from in front of their limousine. The driver also got out and started watching, with his hat on the roof of the car. He was smiling, watching the explosion of color, fortunate to be able to see this while on the job. Porky was clutching onto Ms. Marshmallow's arm tightly, looking up at the night sky. His robot-maid looked down at him and gave him a warm smile. "King P," she said. Porky looked up at Marshmallow and smiled, just like a child would to his mother. "Would you hold my hand?" asked Porky, as innocently as possible. Marshmallow returned the question with a smile and she did so, after Porky removed his arms. Hand in hand, maid and master watched the explosions of color high in the night sky.

Bulbasaur had been sitting at his desk working on his math homework when the first BOOM happened outside. He crept over to his window and peered out the glass just as another firework lit up the sky. Bulba's eyes grew large and another firework had barely gone off before the gijinka pokemon was darting across his room and yanking his dorm room door open.

He was down the hallway like a little green flash, practically skiddng to a stop when he realized he had almost passed up Green's room. Bulba took a deep breath, trying not to seem too overly eager. Little good it did him. He gave Green's door a quick set of knocks and started to bounce a little on his feet at he waited for a response.

Slamming the door open suddenly, he talked without much notice to who was in front of him. "WHAT IS IT, I'M TRYING T- oh it's you." Sighing quietly he closed his eyes and scratched the back of his head. "What's wrong now? Can't sleep or somethin'?"

The sudden door slam made Bulba jump and he covered his mouth to prevent a loud "eep!" from happening in front of Green.

Bulba shook his head rapidly at Green's question. "No! Nothing like that!" He protested. This was so much more important than not being able to sleep. He leaned in a bit closer for the next bit with a very serious expression that was completely ruined by the giant grin on his face. "There are fireworks."

Bulbasaur took hold of Green's other hand with his, and he looked up at him with a look that clearly read, "You are doomed You're going to be watching fireworks even if you don't want to."

"Nnrrrgh." Green looked down on Bulbasaur with a irritated expression, oh how he looked like he was a kid in a damn candy store. He owed it to him anyway to have some fun for once. Although even a little bit he wanted to see them too.

"Fine, FINE! I'll take you to see them, sheesh." He pulled on Bulba's hand to drag him to another door down the hall. "If you want firebutt to join, here's your chance, but I ain't waking him up, he'll roast me."

At first, Lucas thought the loud bangs and flashes of light were thunder and lightning. He'd crept to his window with an expression of dread -- and Rope Snake coiled around his arm for comfort. What he saw, however, were not the dreaded bolts of lightning, but a dazzling display of color and light. This... this was incredible. Beautiful. It was... what was it, actually?

Lucas pushed the window open, leaning out as far as he could to get a better look at the color in the sky. There... there really only was one person who could be responsible for something like this, wasn't there? Leave it to Jeff to hold up his end of their bet with as much flair as possible. Lucas... kind of wished Jeff could be here to watch his handiwork; he'd have loved to know how his friend had been able to make something so dazzling on such short notice.

"Jeff... good luck."

It was some time later when there was a hurried knocking at Lucas' door. Without even waiting for an answer, Jeff let himself in (with or without the BKM). He removed the hood of his ridiculous ninja-outfit and tossed it aside, panting hard.

"I... hate you so much right now... Jeez..." He threw a lacy kitty-print thong at Lucas' head. "I hope you're happy!"

Lucas... hadn't been expecting that. He'd still been leaning out the window watching the fireworks. He jumped at the frantic knocking, quite nearly tumbling right out the window, but quickly pulled himself inside in time to see Jeff enter.

...In some kind of crazy ninja pyjamas.

Lucas was far too distracted by the absurd getup Jeff was in to catch the undergarments; Rope Snake, still coiled around his arm, took care of that for him. For a moment, silence. Lucas looked from Jeff over to Rope Snake and the thong dangling triumphantly from his mouth, then back to Jeff.

And laughed.

It took a full minute before Lucas could get enough control to even speak. "Ahaha... I... I can't believe you actually... how did you even... hahaha! Here, Jeff, you... haha... you keep them. You've earned them!" With that, he extended his arm and once again lapsed into uncontrollable laughter. Rope Snake stuck his head out, presenting the thong to Jeff with a cheeky little flourish.

If Jeff's face hadn't already been flushed, it would have been a deep red by now. He made a shooing gesture at Rope Snake.

"Oh man, I don't... hff... don't even want t-to think about what I went through for these!" He scooted past Lucas, toward one of the beds, and plopped down on it. "I don't want to keep any evidence, thanks."

His gaze went toward the fireworks, and he couldn't help but smile. He wasn't half-bad at making those things. "Huh. Those are still going..."

"Shiiii~!"

Shinx was watching the fireworks intently from her window, stars in her eyes. She was quite fond of shiny things and this was no exception.

She finally decided to go outside, using her Gijinka TM to turn back into normal form. She was still faster as a Shinx than a human, and in her excitement she sparked with delight as she ran down the hallway, down the stairs, and outside into the courtyard.

She settled down in a grassy spot, curled up comfortably where she could see the fireworks easily. "Shiiii~ They're so beautiful!"
