"Yeah seriously," Lash snickered. "You should learn to lie better."

She did help herself to a cookie. "I brought food too! Some salad with coocoos or something like that, and pieces of legumes and other things..." The girl had already forgotten half of the stuff she had brought, considering she had just grabbed everything in an attempt to be fast and efficient. She gave the backpack a small pat. "It's all in here!"

Coocoos...? Legumes...? Lucas didn't have any idea what either of those words meant. But Lash wouldn't have brought it if it didn't taste good, right? Then again, this was a person who was raised on Calorie Mates, so...

"They're really good cookies. Go easy on him." Lucas said, producing his own neatly-wrapped little bundle. "I brought some sandwiches, and there's a bit of nut bread left over from Tazmily, too. It's kind of a local specialty, so I made sure to save some for you guys."

"Hey, thanks!" she replied with a smile, before finally taking out the food from her backpack and placing it on the blanket. It still felt odd having people telling her happy birthday or congratulating her on things that didn't involve warfare. The coucou turned out to be couscous salad and not chickens. Woops. She idly placed the vegetable platter and cheeses in the shade as not for them to get too hot. It was then that she finally realized...

"A cake!" she was so preoccupied about being paranoid at having Black Hole agents sneaking around she hadn't even noticed the most glaring thing in front of her. The round cake was adorable, with the cookies on top. "It's so...cute neat!"

"You just noticed it? It was the first thing I saw when I got here! Did you make it yourself, Maxie?"

He absent-mindedly grabbed another cookie and threw it, not unlike a skipping stone, out onto the lake. It floated on the surface for a few seconds before the water around it rose up in a green and red blur.

The Kraken supposedly had a sweet tooth. Or it would just eat anything. Whichever.
