Who: Anyone! What: Remember that firefly festival Jeff mentioned? IT STARTS HERE. When: August 5-8th. Like the carnival, only the first day will be covered in this particular log.
EVENING - Blacky does STUFF.umbreon_blackyAugust 5 2009, 04:46:26 UTC
Blacky didn't own a yukata.
But that was okay, because there was a nice one in the costume wing. Surely nobody would mind if she borrowed it for the night.
It had been a while since she'd been to a festival like this, having missed last year's due to being in the hospital, and the year before a bad storm prevented her from going on the day she had free. So she would make up for those missed opportunities tonight!
She stood by one of the stands that smelled least offensively like rancid grease, watching the crowds go by. She'd have to pick out someone she knew to win a few fish for her aquarium, for starters.

Snake was very confused. He wasn't even aware that the festival was happening, and had wandered somewhat aimlessly outside, to take an evening walk. He ambled into the crowded park, looking at the various stands. He saw Blacky, wearing a yukata, and nodded at her.
Knuckles sat down under a nearby tree, a selection of tempura'd vegetables scattered around to be nom-nom-ed on. Which he was doing with much gusto.
Also sitting around him were a selection of fish and turtles he'd won... he felt sort of bad for them, in thier teeny tiny containers and bags so he vowed to win as many as he could feasibly carry, and find them more appropriate lodgings. He was also quite familiar with fireflies and thought them some of the nicest insects he'd ever encountered and perhaps sensing his positive vibes, he seemed to have attracted quite a number of them, zooming and swooping about him as he stuffed his face with overpriced battered broccoli and carrot.
Though, there was plenty left to be shared, should someone care to join him!
Lip, not one to pass up on a chance to dress up, was dithering around the various booths and stands in the fair. She won a few things, one of which a heavy duty fire fly balloon. Eventually, she noticed Knuckles sitting under the tree. Hey! She knew him!
Tails didn't know a festival was happening tonight. It was pure luck that he walked outside and had happened to hear people talking about going to it. So, here he was, eyes wide at how much was going on. "Wow..." he said, looking around.
It wasn't long before he spotted Knuckles, and ran over. "Hey, Knuckles!" he said, waving. "Didn't know there was a festival going on right now... Maybe I should invite Ribbon, eh heh..."
He was hopping around in an outfit that was just as pink as his hair, going back and forth between booths in excitement. So many kinds of food and games to play!
To start off, he got himself a cotton candy and munched away while he took a look around first.
And over walks a Yoshi, also wearing a color-coded yukata, munching on a candy apple and swatting at the fireflies without really looking where he was going.
Like the carnival, Parakarry had no clue the festival was going to bee tonight and being on the anti-social side at the time, he never really bothered with the festivals from previous years. So he decided not to miss this one.
He sat at one of the stands enjoying some tayoaki but being careful not to spill any food on his yukata. while watching the fireflies lazily float in the sky like little stars.
Pit, walking along the stands and chewing on a bite of his dango, happened to notice Parakarry sitting there. He couldn't help but smile- he always did when he saw somebody he liked. Then, he made his way over to greet the Parakoopa.
He waved and swallowed his mouthful. "Hi, Parakarry! Mind if I sit down with you?"
"Oh, hello Pit." Parakarry replied before gulping down another ball of fried octopus and giving the angel a similar smile. "I don't mind the company at all."
A moment passed before Pit began talking again. "It's a nice time of day. Perfect for a festival like this!" He formed his lips over his next orb of dango, half chewing and half sucking thoughtfully as he gazed at the specks of bug lights Parakarry had been observing.
So this was a firefly viewing festival? Weavile had never been to one before. That was partly because he had spent most of his life in a snow covered wasteland where fireflies and summer were rarely ever seen. But even after he had left Sinnoh, he was either too busy or too anti-social to bother coming to one of these festivals.
But now that he was neither of those, he decided to give it a shot. Feeling the need to fully immerse himself in the experience, he wore a dark yukata of his own.
Hojita herself also donned a yukata herself for the day! She thought the little red ones were so cute, so she bought one for keeps, nice and cheap. It was a bit filthy and somewhat torn on the sleeves, but that's what it was so cheap! She needed to get the best stuff for the money, especially since she lacked in the money department.
As she pranced around in the beautiful festival area, she seemed to catch sight of a familiar face. "Uncle Weaaaaviiiileeeee!!" That screech could be heard from a mile away except not really.
Hearing the familiar voice, Weavile couldn't help but smile at the girl's appearance. "That is a very lovely yukata." Despite the slight amount of dirt, the colors did match nicely.
"Have you been enjoying the festival so far?" he asked. He had just gotten there himself, so there was still much he wanted to see.
"A little!!" Hoji squeaked. "But I haven't done much yet! And thank you!"
She stared around at the surroundings. There was so much to do! There were the little games, the toys and stuffed animals, and other things. She couldn't decide on what to go for first.

"Good evening, Snake. I didn't know you were the type for festivals."
Reply
"Actually, neither did I. This was kind of an accidental discovery."
A slight grin. "I suppose you're prepared, though," he said, motioning to her clothes.
